In addition to the U.S. jurisdictions, some Canadian provinces have also adopted unclaimed property laws. Currently, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have their own versions, which is similar to how each U.S. state has their own unique requirements. Though other provinces do not have an unclaimed property law, unclaimed balances are governed by the rules of the Bank of Canada.
